Meeting EGP

We had a good meeting with Anna, EGP-director of finance, compliance and administration – and our contact person.

We will go to Warsaw and will have a stand there. Unfortunately: We can’t have a fringe meeting as we had in the past. Now all are looking for other possible cooperations. Last time in Lisbon we had a very good event with the Network of Local Councillors and the young European Greens, organised by the European Committee of the Regions.

Perhaps we could organise something similar again. For example, with our idea of running a workshop on the role of AI in reinforcing stereotypes and ageism.

Furthermore our idea is to have a status which is oriented towards FYEG, just on a slightly smaller scale; we would like to have the right to submit applications, resolutions and amendments and vote. And we would like to have a representative with a deputy.

We’d like to work more closely with EGP and be more involved in the EGP-initiatives.

For example, we want to launch a Europe-wide campaign on ‘friendship banks’ – to combat loneliness and promote greater participation and mobility. Loneliness particularly affects people over 75, but is also affecting more and more young people. It would be great to collaborate with FYEG and EGP in this case.

And we want to have more support from the Green Party for the UN convention of the rights of older adults.

We sent our position paper on intergenerational solidarity to EGP, a summary of the UN convention and will work on all these points.
