Summer-Meeting of the EGS-Board

Our board: Pirkko, Christa, Kerstin, Robert, Gaby, Erwin (left to right)

We discussed our participation in the next EGP Congress in Warsaw.

We present the Friendship Bench as a central theme and visible element. With that concrete, recognisable campaign tool, we can connect broader social and political themes. The Friendship Bench provides an accessible entry point for conversations about loneliness, social exclusion, intergenerational solidarity, housing and the position of the elderly. All age groups benefit from an age-friendly living environment. We explicitly link the Friendship Bench to the broader concept of age-friendly cities and to the UN Convention on the Human Rights of Older Persons.

As already in Lyon, we want to have a performance again with our bench.

And we want to strengthen our EGS network and grow. We want to invite our delegates and talk to them.

At our stand we will have flyers, positionpapers and posters from San Sebastian and our Friendship Bench campaign in October. We’ll be holding our general assembly in Warsaw and will also be sending out invitations online.

Our next meeting will be in September. We will then talk about the state of play of the UN Convention in Geneva, the position of the EU Member States and the European Green parties.

And of course we will continue to prepare Warsaw.
