Dear green seniors!
Loneliness is a growing issue that is increasingly affecting younger people. But it still affects many older people too. Especially seniors who live alone and who are aged over 80 with small pensions. Some older adults only speak to others when they go shopping. Loneliness can occur even when people are connected via social media. Benches are therefore a simple way to strike up a conversation. At the same time, they promote mobility and, with it, independence and social inclusion.
So how can we organise a Europe-wide campaign? What are the prerequisites, and where should we start? How do we raise awareness of the issue? What materials do we need?
We also want to discuss which other issues we should prioritise: it feels as though there have never been so many problems as there are now – wars, climate change and far-right movements that threaten democracy. What priorities do we, as European Green Seniors, want to set?
We’re looking forward to some lively discussions and would love to hear your thoughts and ideas.
